Announcement of the CAA-GR2020 Conference Organizing Committee
We hope that we find you all well and in good health in the current crisis related to COVID-19. We have received a considerable number of abstracts for presentations at the 4th CAA-GR conference ‘Computer Applications and Quantitative Methods in Archaeology, Greece’, even though everybody’s work and research was heavily affected by lockdowns and travel restrictions during this year’s spring. During the last weeks, however, we were intensely discussing the practicability of organizing the conference under the current circumstances of the COVID-19 crisis. In any case it will certainly not be possible to organize the conference as initially planned in October, hosting a larger number of participants at the N.C.S.R. “Demokritos” campus. Alternatives would be to organize the conference either as purely virtual event or as hybrid event with a limited number of participants at N.C.S.R. “Demokritos” and facilities for web presentations by presenters who cannot join the conference in person. However, either way the opportunity for elaborate discussion or interaction among participants will be missing, which constitutes usually an essential part of conferences. For this, in accordance with the CAA-GR Board we came to the decision to postpone the 4th CAA-GR conference to October 2021. The exact date has yet to be confirmed, as it will be assumedly not the only postponed conference/workshop next year.
We would like to thank everybody who has submitted an abstract for a presentation. The submitted abstracts and contributions will remain to be considered for presentation at the conference next year. There will be no need for re-submission. The authors are free to update or edit their abstracts at any time or to withdraw them. For more information and updates please visit our web page caa-gr2020.net, the webpage of the CAA-GR Society or contact us at email@example.com.
Keep healthy, looking forward to welcoming you next year
